Who we are
A family-run brickwork firm in the Kent Weald
J&R Brickwork is a small, family-run outfit based in Staplehurst, between Maidstone and Cranbrook. We lay brick and we lay paving — that is the whole business, and keeping it that narrow is deliberate. It means the person quoting your job is the person doing it.
Most of our work is within an hour of home: garden walls and patios across the Weald, extension brickwork around Maidstone and Tonbridge, repointing and restoration on the period terraces of London and north Kent. We also travel into Essex and Surrey where a job warrants it.
We are fully insured, we quote free of charge, and we would rather tell you a job is not worth doing than sell you one that is not. If something needs a structural engineer, or a different trade, or simply is not urgent yet, you will hear that from us.

Do you charge for a quote?
No. Quotes are free and carry no obligation. We would rather come and look at the job properly than guess at it over the phone, because brickwork and paving prices depend almost entirely on access, ground conditions and what is already there.
Are you insured?
Yes — J&R Brickwork is fully insured for all brickwork and paving operations. We are happy to provide our insurance details on request before work starts.
Do you take on small jobs as well as large ones?
We do. A single spalled brick, a section of repointing or a dropped pier is worth fixing before it becomes something bigger, and small repairs are a normal part of the work alongside extensions, driveways and full garden schemes.
Do you work for builders and contractors as well as homeowners?
Yes. A good share of our work is the brickwork package on extensions and new builds run by main contractors, architects and self-builders, alongside direct work for homeowners.
What happens after I get in touch?
We will call you back to talk through what you need, arrange a time to come and look at the property, and then send a written quote setting out the scope and the price. There is no pressure attached to any of it.
